Blasting into Space for Tim Peake

Have a look at this music video I made with the wonderful Year 2 Strings Orchestra from Old Park Primary School as part of In Harmony Telford & Stoke.

The children were doing ‘space’ as their topic so I wrote a little song to sing and play in orchestra. It is a tribute to the amazing Tim Peake who returned last week from his epic space adventure – a huge inspiration to the children. Which then escalated into a full-on music video with choreography, costumes, and on-location filming. We roped in some willing film students from Coventry University to do the filming and editing.

Here’s the final product!

(My favourite bit is probably the choreography at 3’11″….)

Endah Veneerah – upcoming performance

Birmingham Conservatoire’s LEAP (Learning & Participation) Ensemble will be performing my latest piece Endah Veneerah for the third time this Saturday 11 June 2016 at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham as part of the City of Sounds Festival. Click here for more information.

For a sneak preview, have a listen to the premiere performance of it live at Symphony Hall in May 2016:

And for those who are interested, here’s my programme note on it:

Endah Veneerah steals styles of popular music from the past few decades and mixes them together with a bit of Jazz and Western Classical music. Music evolves gradually over time – for example, although the era of disco is sadly over, the style continues morphing into new genres – and so it features in some way in this piece.
